Natural ecosystems provide numerous services and functions important for human health and well-being. Yet, ecosystems worldwide are increasingly threatened by anthropogenic activities. Freshwater systems, for example, are often contaminated with heavy metals and synthetic chemicals, including agrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, aqueous film-forming foams,  introduced by runoff, atmospheric deposition, and improper use and disposal. My research integrates experimental and computational techniques to examine how contaminants influence the individuals, populations, and communities in freshwater systems across space and time.
